It’s been such a short week since returning from my destination wedding in Rome, Italy. Sarah & Niall are an amazing couple who have been together for ten years, five of those engaged. From Ireland, they decided that it was time to make things official by having a destination wedding in Rome. I love destination weddings because it gives me the time to really know everyone. I spent the better part of three days with this family, and I loved every minute. We were also joined by the talented Julie Brewer of Brewer Photography & Videography who assisted me in shooting.
The day before the wedding we spent a few hours strolling the streets for Sarah & Niall’s engagement session. We were able to capture some amazing images and enjoy the sights, all while minding the crazy motorists.
Below you see the view out my hotel window. To the right of my balcony there stood an amazing fountain, and to the left was the Monumento Nazionale a Vittorio Emanuele II
We tried to see the Pope speak on Wednesday, but by the time we arrived all the seats were filled. It still made for an awesome photo-op, and we were able to see and listen to the Pope via large televisions.
What amazes me are the millions of scooters zipping around Rome and the way they weave in and out of traffic. It wouldn’t be fitting to take a picture in Rome without involving one.
My absolute favorite place in Rome has to be the Villa Borghese Gardens. From there you have the most stunning vantage point of the city, and then behind you one of the most idyllic gardens you will ever see.
The Spanish steps, here just after dark, stay packed up until midnight. Great for people-watching.
A quick sneak peak from the wedding- this shot was taken at about 1:30AM on the Spanish Steps. We were all exhausted, but the shots were worth the hike. A fitting closing shot for a wonderful day. I’m working hard to have the wedding day blog post up this week.
